----
It was early Halloween night, and two young men stood in the entryway of their friend's (parent’s) house.  One, dressed in Ash Ketchum's original outfit, had short, light brown hair and green eyes.  The other wore a black suit with a white dress shirt, a thin black bowtie and several adornments.  His chocolate brown hair was dyed a strange, blue color but his shadowy, azure eyes remained the same.  Tyler Keith and Elemental Wyvern, the latter dressed as Minato Arisato from Persona 3, waited patiently for their mutual friend.

Finally the third member of the trio appeared atop the stairs.  Austin Keith, unlike his friends, was a hazelnut-furred, anthropomorphic chipmunk.  He had bright, gray-blue eyes and wore a white and red letterman jacket over a Coke tee and khakis.  His friends were lost as to who he was dressed as, and naturally Elemental spoke up first.

"What are you trying to look like? Wait, you’re not going as yourself, are you?" he inquired.

"That would be cheating," Austin responded, grinning.  Then Tyler figured it out.

*You're going as Alvin! That's still cheating!" he cried.

"No more than you going as Azelf, Tyler," Austin shot back, referring to his friend’s true form.  Elemental sighed as Austin reached the bottom of the staircase.

"Let's just go, okay? I want to get this done so I can check on Strike. Leaving her alone makes me uneasy," he begged.  His friends begrudgingly agreed.

Once outside, the three young men returned to their usual demeanor.  Getting in Austin’s car, the three friends drove over to a luxurious, one-story home several miles away.  Getting out, the three costumed males made their way to the front door.  Austin’s long-time boyfriend, Simon Seville, answered; a knowing grin on his face.  The bespectacled young man was clad in a long lab coat, and his hair was done up to give him a mad scientist look.

“Hey guys, ready for the party?” he asked.

“Am I the star of West Eastman’s football team?” Austin gloated, imitating Alvin, “Let me in, Simon.”  The bespectacled chipmunk stifled a laugh.

“Nice one. Come on in guys,” he replied.  The three young men followed Simon inside, coming to a stop between the living room and kitchen.  Simon showed his guests all the snacks and drinks he had laid out on the breakfast bar, reminded them where the bathrooms were, and then set the party in motion.

After grabbing some grub, the four young men pulled out Austin’s old N64- kept at Simon’s for safe keeping- and began playing Mario Party 2 on the Horror Land board.  With their chosen characters dressed in spooky outfits and surrounded by spooks, the four males were able to enjoy a fun video game and the Halloween spirit.

After a good few hours of fun, the party was winding down.  Tyler and Elemental- AKA Ash and Minato- were dueling for the lead on Mario Party, several stars ahead of their gay friends. Meanwhile, Austin and Simon- AKA Alvin and the mad scientist- snuggled together on the couch without a care in the world.  They were several stars behind anyway.  As yet another minigame ended and the scores were updated, Elemental turned to his chipmunk friends.

“Do you guys even care anymore? You’re looking at each other more than the screen!” he questioned.  Both lovers turned a light shade of pink.

“Can’t we enjoy being together on Halloween? Besides, we crushed you guys in the first game,” Simon retorted.  Elemental let out a defeated sigh; at least he was winning, right?

“Hah, I’m in the lead now!” Tyler exclaimed.  Elemental let out a moan as he realized he’d taken his attention off the minigame and had thus come in dead last.  This gave Tyler- whom he was tied with for number of stars- ten more coins, which put him in the lead by five.

“I’m gonna get you for that, Ty!” Elemental roared.  Tyler just smirked and continued playing.
--
As the clock neared midnight, the four young men grew tired.  Yawns could be heard periodically, and the pace of gameplay had slowed noticeably.  Mario Party 2 had been substituted for the bloody fun fest that was Gears of War 3.  The four teens had decided to play an act of the campaign with instagib melee on, which reduced meleed opponents to pieces in a bloody, explosion-like pulverization.

Austin was using his alternate ‘instagib’ weapon pairing consisting of a retro lancer- replacing the standard lancer- and a gnasher shotgun.  Simon was using a similar pairing but with a sawed-off, whereas Elemental was enjoying himself with a scorcher flamethrower.  Lastly, Tyler used the standard Lancer-Gnasher combo with ample results.  The act was completed in no less than thirty minutes, after which they boys decided it was time for bed.

“Hey Simon, where are we sleeping?” Tyler asked.  Simon paused for a moment, seemingly hesitant to answer.

“...well, if you’re okay with sharing a bed, you and Elemental can have the one in the guest room. It’s Tempurpedic, by the way,” the ‘mad scientist’ finally answered.

“I’ll share a bed if it means spending a night on that sucker,” Elemental remarked eagerly.

“Just keep your distance, alright?” Tyler responded.

“It’s a king; you guys will be fine,” Austin assured them.

“Wait, how do you know that?” Elemental questioned.

“Let’s just say he’s been here before…” Simon cackled madly, acting true to his character for once.  With that, he and Austin quickly retreated to the elder chipmunk’s master bedroom.  A look of worry etched itself on Tyler’s face, whereas Elemental just raised an eyebrow.  Glancing down at his temporary roommate, he sighed acceptingly.

“This may be a long night…”

Good story here. And I doubt you, Simon, or Elemental would ever beat me on any Mario Party game. I grew up with that series.
